Brenda Bufalino
Tap dancer and advocate Brenda Bufalino (1937-) was mentored by Charles “Honi” Coles (1911-1992) and shared the stage with tap legends like The Nicholas Brothers. Along with Coles, she founded and directed the American Tap Dance Orchestra from 1986-1999, after which the organization became known as the American Tap Dance Foundation and refocused to support the art of tap dance, encourage young choreographers, and honor legends in the field. Besides dancing, Bufalino also writes articles about tap dance and contributed both the forward and the afterward for the seminal book, Jazz Dance by Marshall and Jean Stearns.
