Bebe Miller
Contemporary modern choreographer Bebe Miller (1950-) graduated from the Ohio State dance program and performed with Nina Wiener before forming her own company in 1985 to tour nationally and internationally. She served as a professor at her alma mater for 17 years and her company now resides all over the United States. They build work over a period of years in long-term residencies that bring collaborators and dancers together. Their project, Dance Fort, shares their technological explorations with the dance field and encourages the use of digital media in the creative process.
Also Born Today: Ballerina Olga Ferri (1928-2012) danced with the Teatro Colón in Argentina. Ballroom dancer Brian Fortuna (1982-) performed in West End Productions and on TV dance shows including Strictly Come Dancing (UK) and Dancing with the Stars (US).
