Kathryn Murray
Ballroom dancer Kathryn Murray (1906-1999), along with her husband Arthur Murray (1895-1991), hosted the TV show, The Arthur Murray Party from 1950-1960, bringing ballroom dancing into living rooms all over the country. They co-founded dance instruction studios internationally and created the ‘magic step’ system of dotted lines, arrows, and shoe outlines that diagrammed dances for students to follow. Their studios are still open today.
