Aaron Kwok
Performer Aaron Kwok (1965-) was known as one of the Four Heavenly Kings in the 1990s. Kwok is a pop-music singer and dancer nicknamed the “God of Dance” and his dancing is inspired by Michael Jackson (1958-2009) often called the “King of Pop”. He also starred in several TV shows and in movies including Saviour of the Soul (1991). Kwok began dancing around 1984 when he took a dancer training course offered by TBV, a Hong Kong broadcasting company. He was transferred to the acting department in 1987 and began appearing on TV shows before breaking into pop music around 1991.
Also Born Today: Ballroom dancer Joanne Clifton (1983-) began studying ballroom and Latin dances with her parents, who were World Champion dancers. She partnered with her brother Kevin Clifton (1982-) and when she took on another partner, she chose to pursue ballroom style instead so that she and her brother would not directly compete against each other. She has won several championships, appeared on several versions of the TV show Strictly Come Dancing from 2014-2019, and she dances in musical theatre touring shows including The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
