Seymour Felix
Director/choreographer Seymour Felix (1892-1961) began dancing during the vaudeville era at the age of 15. He began staging dances (staging was the early name for choreography) on Broadway around 1923 and he created dances for hit shows such as Whoopee! and Rosalie (both 1928). He moved to Hollywood in 1929 and began choreographing for musicals featuring sound technology, and worked on films well into the 1950s. Some of his notable films are: The Great Ziegfeld (1936), Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), and Cover Girl (1944).
