Acia Gray
Austin-based rhythm tap dancer, Acia Gray (1960-) studied both contemporary dance and tap, graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC, but her career trajectory changed after studying with Charles “Honi” Coles (1911-1992) in 1989. She co-founded Tapestry dance company in Austin that same year and established the Soul 2 Sole Tap Dance Festival in 2001. Her book, The Souls of Your Feet – A Tap Dance Guide for Rhythm Explorers (2002) is a compendium of rhythm tap knowledge, terminology, and basic rhythm structures.
