Ann Cooper Albright
Dance educator and writer, Ann Cooper Albright (1959-) teaches at Oberlin College and came to dance by way of philosophy. Her work is at the crossroads of feminist theory, philosophy, and performance studies. Her books include a co-edited collection of essays ideal for teaching dance history - Moving History/Dancing Cultures: A Dance History Reader (2001) and Engaging Bodies: The Politics and Poetics of Corporeality (2013).
Also Born Today: Ballet dancer Nicholas Magallanes (1922-1977) performed in the first NYCB performance (October 11, 1948) and created the role of the Cavalier partner of the Sugar Plum Fairy in Balanchine’s first performance of The Nutcracker (1954).
