Donna McKechnie
She's the One. Broadway dancer Donna McKechnie (1942-) was the original Cassie from A Chorus Line (1975), choreographed by Michael Bennett (1943-1987). She met Bennett on a TV dance show called Hullabaloo and they were briefly married, but retained a working partnership, and he cast her in several shows, including Promises, Promises (1968) and Company (1970). The role of Cassie is partially based on McKechnie’s life as a dancer on Broadway. She is featured in the documentary Every Little Step (2008).
