Ann Reinking
Ann Reinking (1949-2020), the fabulous Fosse dancer with the extra-long legs, studied ballet with two former Ballets Russes dancers as a youth and debuted on Broadway in the original production of Cabaret (1966). She starred in several Bob Fosse (1927-1987) stage shows, including Pippin (1972), Chicago (1975), and Dancin’ (1978). She also appeared in a role loosely based on herself in Fosse’s semi-autobiographical film, All that Jazz (1979) and she appeared in the movie Annie (1982).
Also Born Today: Ballet patron Nancy Lassalle (1927-2021) helped George Balanchine (1904–1983) to found the Ballet Society in 1946, serving as President. She also served as a founding board member for the School of American Ballet and the New York City Ballet.
