Cynthia Gregory
Ballerina Cynthia Gregory (1946-) studied with Carmelita Maracci (1908-1987) as a child in California before joining San Francisco Ballet while still in her teens. In 1965 she joined ABT and danced a great many classical roles and guested with companies including Stuttgart Ballet and the Cuban National Ballet until her retirement from the stage in 1992. Since that time she has staged and coached ballet productions worldwide and in 2008 she joined the board of directors for the Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation.
Also Born Today: In the 1960s, dance maker Heinz Spoerli (1940-) performed with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and the Basel Ballet, where he later served as resident choreographer for two decades.
