Julianne Hough
Ballroom dancer Julianne Hough (1988-) began competing in the Latin Dance category at the age of nine and she and her brother Derek Hough (1985-) trained with coaches and Latin Dance champions Corky and Shirley Ballas (1960-/1960-) in London. After winning competitions at Blackpool at 15, she returned to the United States and began appearing on Dancing With the Stars in 2006. Julianne also began performing country music and has appeared in several dance films including Footloose (2011), Rock of Ages (2012), and Grease Live! (2016-TV).
Also Born Today: Dancer Carolyne Barry (1943-2015) was known as “The Girl with the Horn-rimmed Glasses” on the TV dance show Shindig in the 1960s and she became a commercial casting director after appearing in over 400 commercials herself.
