George Skibine
Ballet dancer George Skibine (1920-1981) is the son of dancer Boris Skibine (1876-1937) and was married to ballerina Marjorie Tallchief (1926-2021), sister of ballerina Maria Tallchief (1925-2013). George Skibine performed with his father for the original Ballets Russes as a young child, appearing as an extra in the ballet Petrouchka. He studied with famed dancer/teacher Olga Preobajenska (1871-1962) and went on to dance with both of the later Ballet Russe companies and American Ballet Theatre, and her laterserved as the artistic director for the Paris Opera Ballet, the Harkness Ballet, and the Dallas Civic Ballet.
