Baayork Lee
Dancer Baayork Lee (1946-) premiered on Broadway in the original version of The King and I (1951) as one of the featured young princesses and went on to appear in Flower Drum Song (1958) and Promises, Promises (1968) before originating the autobiographical role of Connie in A Chorus Line (1975), choreographed by her high school friend, Michael Bennett (1943-1987). Lee continued to assist Bennett for his productions and she has been instrumental in revivals of the show on Broadway and for international productions.
