Laura Dean
The early work of postmodern choreographer Laura Dean (1945-) tended toward minimalist practices and featured spinning as a prominent movement motif in her dances. She collaborated with minimalist composer Steve Reich and has created work for the Royal Danish Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet. Dean stopped creating dances in 2001 and in 2008 she won a lifetime award from the American Dance Festival.
