Eugene Loring
Dancer/choreographer Eugene Loring (1911-1982) joined George Balanchine’s first American ballet company, now called the New York City Ballet, in 1936. Loring choreographed the classic ballet, Billy the Kid (1938) and danced the lead. He briefly joined American Ballet Theatre (ABT) and choreographed Broadway musicals including Silk Stockings (1955) before relocating to Hollywood and choreographing the movie version of Silk Stockings, along with Funny Face, both in 1957.
