Patrick Swayze
Dancer Patrick Swayze (1952-2009) is best known for his performance in the movie Dirty Dancing (1987). His Saturday Night Live skit with Chris Farley as dancers auditioning for Chippendale’s is one of the best - see it for yourself. They both died too young.
Also born today: Choreographer Jules Perrot (1810-1892), who created some of the most memorable 19th century ballets, including Giselle (1841) and Pas de Quatre (1845), a piece staged for the four most famous ballerinas of the time.
